Join the Pony Club!
The Herne Branch of the Pony Club (affiliated to the British Horse Society) has gone from strength to strength in 2005 and 2006 with memberships doubling over the course of the year and successes in team and individual eventing, show jumping, dressage and horse and pony care. The 2005 'horse and pony care' team took first place at the 'horse and pony care area competition' held at Goodnestone Court Equestrian Centre and then went on to achieve third place at the championships held in Sansaw Park in Shropshire out of not only pony club branches from the UK and Ireland but also teams from Canada and the USA. The 2006 team took first place at the 'horse and pony care competition' in April and the Herne branch are once again on their way to the championships in Shropshire at the end of August. Being a small branch all children get a great deal of input in all aspects horse and pony care, whether that be in any of the disciplines; showjumping, dressage, eventing, tetrathlon or prince Philip games or in learning to care for their horses and ponies through a series of tests and achievement badges. Each year the Herne branch arrange a fantastic 5 day residential summer camp.
